Risk of death when working on component parts and systems with U >= 30 V alternating voltage (AC) or U >= 60 V direct voltage (DC)

Do not touch damaged or defective live component parts and lines or non-insulated electrical connections and lines.

Risk of explosion/risk of fire caused by highly flammable materials in the vicinity of damaged xenon bulbs. Risk of injury caused by UV light, hot components on xenon headlamps and glass splinters produced by bursting xenon bulbs. Risk of poisoning caused by inhalation of mercury vapors and by swallowing of/skin contact with toxic salts and mercury compounds.

Do not touch parts conducting high voltage. Persons with active electronic implants (e.g. cardiac pacemakers) must never work on xenon headlamps. Switch off the entire lighting system. Wear insulated safety shoes, safety glasses and protective gloves. Remove highly inflammable materials from the danger zone. Ensure sufficient ventilation in the working area.

Open engine hood and move to vertical position

Remove front bumper

Remove screws (1, 3, 4)

 Remove adjustment wheel (2) with screw (1).

Disconnect electrical connector from left front lamp unit (E1) or right front lamp unit (E2)

Remove left front lamp unit (E1) and right front lamp unit (E2) towards the front

 Installation: Align left front lamp unit (E1) or right front lamp unit (E2) so that the distances between the fender and the closed hood are equal.

Disconnect vacuum line from actuator on left front lamp unit (E1) or right front lamp unit (E2)

 In vehicles with code 612 (Xenon headlamp unit) or code 614 (Bi-xenon headlamps), the vacuum line is a blind line attached to the bottom of the left front lamp unit (E1) or right front lamp unit (E2).

Install in the reverse order

Adjust electrical zero position of headlamp range adjustment

On vehicles with code 612 (Xenon headlamp unit), with code 614 (Bi-xenon headlamps)



Connect STAR DIAGNOSIS and read out fault memory
