Remove/install

Switch off ignition.

Remove heat shield.

Only if fitted.

Disconnect electrical connection (11) from exhaust aftertreatment (ACM) control unit (A60) and remove it.

Unfasten line package (10).

Remove AdBlue® metering device (A67) from the exhaust gas aftertreatment unit (1) and bind to one side.



 Installation:
If the exhaust gas aftertreatment unit (1) is replaced and, during this operation, a Generation I is replaced by a Generation II, the following must be observed: To mount the AdBlue® metering device (A67), the changed screws (12) that are 4 mm shorter must be used.
Damage will occur to the EATU (1) otherwise.

 Do not disconnect the electrical connection (2), the AdBlue® return line (3) and the AdBlue® pressure line (4).

 Installation: Install new seal and screw/bolts.

Disconnect electrical connections (6, 7, 8, 9).

Remove exhaust flex pipe (5).

Remove mounting plates over the carriers (17, 18).

Support EATU (1) by means of a pallet forklift and remove it.


Use a suitable base such as a Euro pallet.
The exhaust tailpipe (13) or the EATU (1) can get damaged otherwise.

Determine design level of the exhaust gas aftertreatment unit (1).

Only when replacing the EATU (1).

 The design of EATUs (1) was changed which lead to the situation for replacement of EATUs (1) that different measures will have to be observed for different generations.

Remove heat shields (15, 16).

Only when replacing the EATU (1).

Remove exhaust baffle plate (14) from the tailpipe (13) and from the exhaust gas aftertreatment unit (1).

Only when installing new exhaust gas aftertreatment unit (1) with exhaust baffle plate.

Remove assembly parts of the EATU (1) (see Picture A and Picture B)

Only when replacing the EATU (1).



 Some assembly parts are reused for replacing the EATU (1). This must be removed and attached together with the new parts to the new EATU (1).

Connect diagnostic system.

Only if EATU (1) was replaced.

Update software release in exhaust aftertreatment control unit (ACM) (A60).

Only if EATU (1) was replaced.


If the EATU (1) is replaced and there is replacement during this of one of Generation I by one of Generation II, updating of the software release is essential.
Further workshop visits will be cause otherwise.

Perform teach-in process on exhaust aftertreatment (ACM) control unit (A60).

Only if EATU (1) was replaced.

Non-teaching in leads to a renewed workshop visit.
