Align vehicle between the columns of the hydraulic hoist and position the four support plates below the hoist support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer.

Remove front wheels



Remove/install wheels, rotate if necessary

Slacken locknut (2a) of inner rack rod (2)



Press tie rod joint off steering knuckle

 Installation: Replace self-locking nut (3d) and clean taper in order to ensure a firm seat.

Unscrew track rod (3) from inner track rod (2)

 Installation: Ensure that during assembly the bellows of the rack-and-pinion steering (1) are not twisted in order to prevent damage.

 To simplify the chassis alignment check, mark track rod (3) with respect to inner track rod (2).



Inspect

Check track rod joint and rubber boot for wear and renew track rod (3) if necessary

Install in the reverse order

Perform chassis alignment check
