OF | Test sheet form for braking behavior of tractor and trailer vehicles |
1 Apply the pressure staggering (pm) on the brake coupling terminal as per test sheet and record the pressures in the brake cylinders (p1 to p4) and the brake forces (F1 to F4) for each wheel in the test sheet. Record the locking limit.
Utilize the form “test sheet for braking behavior of tractor and trailer vehicles”. Use only values below the locking limit. Utilize the crescent pressure staggering and test with high pressure, always release the operation brake.
2 Add the brake forces (F1 to F4) of the individual axles and record the sum of the brake forces (FM) of the tractor vehicle related to the pressure staggering (pm) on the test sheet.
3 Calculate the braking (z) by pressure staggering (pm).
z = [Sum of the brake forces (FM)] [Total permissible weight (GM)] 100 (%)
Example for investigating the braking (z) of the tractor vehicle:
Sum of the brake forces (FM) in pm 2.0 bar = 2790 daN
Total permissible weight (GM) = 18,000 kg
z = (2790 18,000) 100 (%) = 15.5 %
With 1 bar pressure at the brake coupling terminal the wheel braking actuation must already be recorded.
Example of the brake forces investigated: | ||

0,0 | 460 | 2,6 |
0,5 | 460 | 2,6 |

4 Transfer the calculated braking values (z) for each pressure staggering (pm) of the test sheet for the EG braking range. A curve is formed by means of joining points, that indicates the braking process (braking behavior) of the tractor vehicle.
If the braking process is outside the EG braking range or in case of too high pressure responses the brake complaint has to be filed. The brake system of the tractor vehicle has, then, be checked and the fault investigated or the wear have to be repaired. Brake system modifications are permissible only with the assembly plant's agreement.
