Remove/install

Remove front wheels

 Spherical collar nut

*BA40.10-N-1001-03C

 Pressure plate nut

*BA40.10-N-1002-03C

Detach electrical line for wear indicator (1)

 Depending on the model and version, the wear indicator electrical line (1) may only be available on the left side of the vehicle.

Remove cover plate on brake caliper

 Only on brake caliper with wear indicator.

Remove securing pins (2) and take out cross spring (3)

Push back piston.



Pull out brake pads (4).

 Installation: Only replace brake pads (4) in complete sets per axle. Grease backplate of brake pad (4) and contact surface on brake caliper.



Checking

Clean brake parts and check for wear and damage

 Replace worn or damaged parts, if necessary: 

Disassemble/assemble brake caliper on front axle

Check brake pads and brake disks for signs of wear

Install in the reverse order

Build up brake pressure

 Operate brake pedal several times.

Check brake fluid level, correct if necessary
