1 The distance and comparison measurements for measuring points "V1" to "V5" are performed from reference hole "K".
Use measuring tip (24c) from 140 589 09 63 00.
The reference hole "K" is located in the front frame crossmember in the center of the vehicle.
On vehicles with heater booster, detach the heater booster from the vehicle floor beforehand.

Use telescopic measuring rod 124 589 02 19 00 (06) with long measuring tip
140 589 09 63 00 for the check bore and use the elbow (024i) for the bolt of the flange joint.
Attach the elbow (024i) to the telescopic measuring rod (06) in place of the connecting part 124 589 08 63 00.
For the comparison measurement on the other side of the vehicle, rotate the telescopic measuring rod (06) and elbow (024i) through 180° so that the telescopic measuring rod (06) does foul the vehicle underfloor.

Partially detach left and right front wheel housing liners (1 clip, 1 bolt) in order to gain access to the outer retaining bolt of the front axle carrier.
Should two long measuring tips (024c) not be available, the measuring tip from procedure 1 from 140 589 09 63 00 can also be used for check bore "K".

A precise measurement for the distance "V5" is not yet available, so this dimension must be determined on a comparable vehicle.

The windshield washer fluid container must be unhooked and placed to the side so that the retaining bolts of the suspension struts can be reached with the telescopic measuring rod (06) without obstructions and so that the measurements can be carried out correctly.
Should two long measuring tips (024c) not be available, the measuring tip from procedure 1 from 140 589 09 63 00 can also be used for check bore "K".
