When adjusting the caster at the front axle the camber on the front axle also changes. If the camber and caster are to be adjusted then the caster should be set before the camber

Adjusting caster

Undo nuts (12) of flange joint (10) on transverse control arm (9) and remove bolts

Slacken nut (11)

Set caster to specified value by shifting the flange ball joint (10) to the front or rear

 Read off specified value for caster based on caster table

See: 

Check caster and assign to tabular value

Insert bolts, tighten nuts (12) and nut (11) of the flange ball joint (10) on the transverse control arm (9)

 Replace nuts (12).



Check the vehicle level at the front axle again following caster adjustment

 The vehicle level must match the dimension established during the initial measurement.

Undo nuts (3) far enough until the suspension strut (1) to the steering knuckle (2) can be moved

 Counterhold the bolts (4) using counterholder (6).



Insert reset device (7) with support (8) between tires (5) and suspension strut (1)

Set camber by turning spindle on reset device (7)



 Read off specified value for camber based on camber table Refer to: 

Check camber, assign tabular value

Tighten nuts (3)

 Counterhold the bolts (4) using counterholder (6).

Firstly, fit the lower nut (3), then tighten the upper nut (3) to the specified tightening torque. Then tighten the lower nut (3) to the specified tightening torque.


