Remove rear axle.

Detach spring support from portal housing (1)

 Identify installation position of spring support relative to the portal housing (1).

 Installation: Observe correct installation position of spring support.



Remove rear wheel hub

Detach wheel brake cylinder from bracket on portal housing (1)

Remove automatic linkage adjuster

Remove wheel carrier

Remove output gear

Detach bracket of trailing arm (2) from portal housing (1)

 Installation: Cover bolts with adhesive. First tighten all the bolts on the trailing arm side by hand, then the bolts on the rear axle housing side. Finally tighten the bolts on the trailing arm side.



Detach portal housing (1) with portal axle final drive from rear axle housing

 Secure portal housing (1) to prevent it from falling down. Pay attention to ring gear with differential or rigid shaft. Collect oil which runs out in a suitable container.

 Installation: Install new O-ring. Cover the hole-free area of the flange mounting surface to the rear axle housing with sealing compound.
