5 | Remove bearing bridge (4) | - In the process mark bearing bridge and rear axle housing relative to one another beforehand. - If necessary, loosen seized bearing bridge by applying light blows with a plastic mallet. | |
6 | Remove plastic ring (7) from differential | ||
7 | Lift ring gear with differential (9) off rear axle housing (8) | Mark ring gear and drive gear relative to one another beforehand. | |
8 | Remove outer races (10) of tapered roller bearing (11) | Mark outer races and tapered roller bearing relative to one another. | |
| Install | ||
9 | Slide outer races (10) onto the tapered roller bearings (11) and insert ring gear with differential (9) in the rear axle housing (8). | - If the tapered roller bearings have not been replaced, observe identification on the outer races and tapered roller bearings. - Observe markings of ring gear and drive gear (so that the same pairs of teeth are engaged with each other again). - Only replace ring gear and drive gear together, not individually. | |
10 | Mount bearing bridge (4) and put on mounting bolts (3) | Observe marking on rear axle housing and on the bearing bridge. | |
11 | Insert vinyl ring (7) in the closed threaded ring (6) and screw in both threaded rings (5, 6) | ||
12 | Adjust gear backlash, ring gear differential assembly | ||
13 | Tighten mounting bolts (3) of bearing bridge (4) with specified tightening torque | | |
14 | Install tab washers (2) | | |
15 | Install differential assembly |
