Pull out rear axle shafts (2)

 The rear axle shafts (2) must not be completely removed, it suffices when they are pulled out approx. 170 mm. Collect escaping oil in a suitable container.

Detach bleed line from differential assembly (4)

Remove propeller shaft (5)

Attach removal fixture to differential assembly (4)

Remove bolts (6)

Remove differential assembly (4)

 Do not damage sealing surface on differential assembly (4) and axle housing, otherwise there may be leakages on the rear axle.



Install

Clean sealing surface on axle housing and differential assembly (4)

Coat sealing surface on axle housing and on differential assembly with sealant.4

Install differential assembly (4) with removal fixture

 Fasten differential assembly (4) using some bolts (6) provisionally to axle housing. Use new bolts (6).

On the sealed differential it can happen that a small volume of oil escapes. The remaining quantity of residual oil ensures that there is sufficient lubrication to the differential gearing.

Detach removal fixture from differential assembly (4)

Remove guide pin from axle housing

Screw in remaining bolts (6)

 Use new bolts (6). Tighten bolts (6) evenly in a cross pattern.



Clean sealing surface on rear axle shaft flange (2) and on the wheel hubs

Coat sealing surface on flange of rear axle shafts (2) and on the wheel hubs with sealant
