Removing

1

Remove differential assembly.

Loosen jam nut (1) of pressure bolt

Unscrew pressure bolt

4

Remove cotter pins (2) for securing two threaded rings (5)

Identify installation position of bearing caps (4) and threaded rings (5) relative to the housing
of differential assembly (7)

Loosen bolts (3) of both bearing caps (4)

Unscrew both threaded rings (5)



Remove both bearing caps (4)

 Loosen bearing caps (4) if necessary by light blows with a rubber mallet or plastic mallet.

Lift ring gear with differential (6) off housing of differential assembly (7)



Install

Insert ring gear with differential (6) into differential assembly housing (7)

Install both bearing caps (4)

 Observe identification of bearing caps (4) relative to housing of differential assembly (7).

First of all only tighten bolts (3) to
approx. 30 Nm.

Screw in both threaded rings (5) until they abut with the tapered roller bearings

 Observe identification of threaded rings (5) relative to housing of differential assembly (7).



Adjust gear backlash at differential assembly

Tighten bearing caps (4)



In each case secure threaded rings (5) with a new cotter pin (2)

Screw in pressure bolt as far as the end stop and then loosen a half revolution again

Adjust gap between the ring gear and pressure bolt by screwing the pressure bolt in or out

 The gap between the ring gear and pressure bolt must be adjusted exactly. A gap which is incorrectly adjusted may lead to damage to the differential assembly.

Tighten jam nut (1) of the pressure bolt



Check the gap between the ring gear and pressure bolt and adjust again if necessary
