9 | Remove ABS measuring ring | ||
10 | Remove radial shaft sealing ring (2) | ||
11 | Remove oil retainer (10) from rear wheel hub (3) | ||
12 | Remove thrust ring (1) | Spring off thrust ring (1) with chisel and remove. | |
| Install | ||
13 | Clean sitting surface of thrust ring (1) on axle tube | ||
Warning | Risk of injury. Skin or eye injuries may result when handling hot or glowing objects. | Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses, if necessary. | |
14 | Heat up the new thrust ring (1) to 80 °C and push on until it abuts with the axle tube | Press on thrust ring (1) until it has cooled down sufficiently that its installation position no longer changes. | |
15 | Check distance of thrust ring (1) until it abuts with axle tube | Distance of thrust ring until it abuts | |
16 | Insert new oil retainer (10) in the rear wheel hub (3) | ||
17 | Install new radial shaft sealing ring (2) | Drift | |

18 | Install ABS measuring ring | ||
19 | Slide rear wheel hub (3) onto the axle tube | Make sure that the sealing lip of the radial sealing ring (2) is not damaged. | |
20 | Install outer tapered roller bearing (4) | Grease outer tapered roller bearing (4). | |
MB multipurpose grease, 400 g | |||
21 | Tighten inner slotted nut (5) | Continuously turn the rear wheel hub (3) and apply a few strikes with a rubber hammer to the rear wheel hub (3) in a crosswise pattern so that the tapered roller bearings come into contact with zero clearance. | |

27 | Secure outer slotted nut (7) | Drive the locking plate (6) into suitable grooves of the inner slotted nut (5) and outer slotted nut (7). | |
28 | Clean the sealing surface on flange of rear axle shaft (9) and on wheel hub (3) and apply sealant | Omnifit sealantFD10-1042 | |
29 | Install rear axle shaft (9) | Use new screws (8). | |
