Remove/install

1

Detach electrical connections (1) from rpm sensor

Detach electrical connector (2) for brake wear indicator

Separate brake hoses (3) from brake lines (4)

 Seal brake hoses (3) and brake lines (4) using suitable stop plugs.

Remove lock washer (5) and remove brake hoses (3) from bracket

Detach compressed air lines (6) from frame transverse pipe

Remove bolt (7) from shock absorber (8) at left and right

 Nut/bolt, shock absorber to front axle

Remove bolt (9) from stabilizer link bracket (10) at left and right

 Bolt, stabilizer bar to bracket for front axle

Detach drag link (11) from steering knuckle arm (12) and secure above

Remove transverse control arm (13) from vehicle frame

 Bolt, transverse control arm to frame

Support torque tube (14) using jack stand

Remove screws (15)

 Bolt, torque ball housing to transfer case

Pull away front axle using chain hoist from transfer case and prop-up using wooden block between torque tube (8) and transfer case

 Installation: Clean sealing surfaces and apply sealant.

Loctite 5203 sealant

Secure drive shaft (17) to prevent it from falling

Remove bolts (16) of drive shaft (17)

Adjust preload of torque tube to torque ball housing

 Installation: Before installing the drive shaft (17) on the output flange, the torque ball of the torque tube (14) must be adjusted:

Fix springs (27, 28) in place using tensioning strap (29)

 Fixing the springs (27, 28) in this position makes installation easier.

Raise vehicle at front mounting plate and roll front axle out at front using a suitable bar

 Helper required.

Put down vehicle on support stands under frame

Install in the reverse order



Check

Check compressed-air lines (6) for leak tightness

Check differential lock for proper operation

Check oil levels


