Risk of injury to skin or eyes from hydraulic fluid spraying out under pressure. Risk of poisoning from swallowing hydraulic fluid.

Depressurize the hydraulic system completely before starting any work on the system. Wear protective clothing and safety glasses.

Absolute cleanliness is essential when working on the transmission. Before opening the hydraulic system the area surrounding the separation point should be cleaned thoroughly. No fluffy cleaning cloths may be used. Even the smallest of dirt particles in the hydraulic components can impair the function of the transmission and ultimately to breakdown.

For repairs always use rubberized, oil resistant and fiber free gloves.

The transmission components are to be stored in a clean environment. To this end it is advisable to cover up the components or to store them in a clean plastic case with a covering

Remove radiator trim

Detach oil lines (40c, 43a) from thermostat (41)

Collect escaping transmission oil in a suitable container and seal off line connections with plugs.

Unscrew bolt (2).

Pull thermostat (41) off transmission oil cooler (42) and remove

Collect escaping transmission oil in a suitable container and seal off connections with plugs.

Installation: Replace sealing rings on transmission oil cooler.

Install in the reverse order

Secure vehicle to prevent it from moving.
Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes.
Do not grasp hot or rotating parts.
