Disassemble

Remove locking ring (11)

Remove tapered roller bearing (10)

 Use the appropriate thrust piece from the disassembly kit.

Remove constant speed gear 1 (8) and needle bearing (9)

Remove annular spring (5) and synchronizer cone (6) from synchronizer ring (7)

Remove air flow sensor plate (4)

 Only if required.

Remove circlip (3) and oil splash ring (2)

 Only if required.



Assemble

Insert oil pipe (2) into drive shaft (1) and fit circlip (3)

 Only necessary if the oil pipe (2) has been removed.

Install new baffle plate (4)

 Only necessary if the
baffle plate (4) has been removed.

The rubber lip of the new baffle plate (4) must point outward.

Check wear between synchronizer cone (6) and slider sleeve

 In the case of wear, replace the components concerned.

Insert annular spring (5) into synchronizer cone (6) and mount on synchronizer ring (7)

 Oil the annular spring (5) and synchronizer cone (6).

Slide needle bearing (9) onto drive shaft (1) and install constant speed gear 1 (8) together with synchronizer ring (7)

 Lubricate needle roller bearing (9).



Heat tapered roller bearing (10) to approx. 80 °C and push on

 After the tapered roller bearing (10) has cooled, drive on the inner race until the
tapered roller bearing (10) no longer exhibits any axial play.

Install circlip (11) with zero clearance

 If necessary, use a circlip (11) with a different thickness.
