Remove/install

Disconnect battery ground line

 Installation: Code radio, set clock, normalize power windows and set timer in vehicles with stationary heater.

Remove transfer case

Unscrew nuts (11)

Undo bolts (9) from transmission and remove the exhaust bracket (10)

Remove clip catches (32) and unhook shift rods from gearshift lever (2)



Remove clutch slave cylinder

 Do not detach hydraulic line from slave cylinder.

 Uncouple slave cylinder.

 Installation: When installing the slave cylinder, make sure the pressure pin (5) in the spherical cutout of the clutch release fork (4) actually makes contact.

Use jack to support transmission (1).

Transmission platform

Remove bolts (6) on crankcase and, using lifting device, remove transmission (1) downwards at an angle.



 Push retainer (7) upwards.

Check pressure bearing (3), clutch release fork (4) and grooved ball bearing of crankshaft

Inspect transmission oil level

 Correct oil level at bottom edge of filler opening.
