Remove engine with front axle carrier

Hook engine with transmission up to suitable lifting equipment and lift until the engine mounts are relieved of load

 Chains must hang vertically (see picture), otherwise detachable parts will be damaged.

Remove collar bolts (1) and (2)

Press left front axle shaft (6) out of transmission using a suitable screwdriver

Remove bolts (3) and intermediate bearing (4) of right front axle shaft (5) from engine



Press right front axle shaft (5) out of transmission using suitable screwdriver

Lift engine (16) with transmission (15) out of front axle carrier (17)

 Guide left front axle shaft (6) and right front axle shaft (5) carefully out of transmission (15).
 Installation: Carefully slide left front axle shaft (6) and right front axle shaft (5) into longitudinal toothing in transmission.

Left front axle shaft (6) must be felt to engage.

Remove bolts (10) and remove bracket (9) for catalytic converter

Unscrew ground strap (12) from engine support (14)

Remove bolts (13) and remove engine support (14)

Remove bolts (11) and remove starter (M1)

Remove bolts (7) and disconnect transmission (15) from engine (16) at flange

 Transmission to engine

 Installation: Check seating of fitting sleeves (8) in crankcase.

Fitting sleeves must be assembled in crankcase

(2 ea.).

Inspect transmission oil level

 Correct oil level: Bottom edge of filler opening.

 Installation: Coat screw plugs for oil filler and drain holes with sealant.

Program control unit for bleeding, AKS setting and engagement point determination of clutch actuation

 Only vehicles with code (421a) Automatic clutch.

Stored faults possibly caused by previous simulation or by cables disconnected in the process of installation or testing must be processed and erased in the DTC memories once all work is completed. See: 
