Remove

Detach clutch pressure plate (2) and remove it together with the clutch plate (1).

 To prevent excessive one-sided loads on the pressure plate, unscrew the bolts (4) by loosening them in a cross-pattern and in small increments only.



Check

Check flywheel

 In case of scorch marks, score marks or cracks on the friction surface:



Replace or rework flywheel.

Inspect and grease guide bearing in flywheel

 If worn:



Check clutch release lever (6) and clutch release bearing (5)

 If damage present:



Free up clutch release lever (6), or replace clutch release lever (6) or clutch release bearing (5).

Clean guide tube for clutch release bearing (5) and grease lightly

 Observe installation position of clutch release bearing (5).

Check friction surfaces on clutch pressure plate (2) and clutch plate (1).

 In the event of wear, scorch marks, score marks or cracks:



Replace clutch pressure plate (2) and clutch plate (1)

Clean profile grooves in clutch plate (1), grease lightly and check that the clutch plate (1) can move on the hub profile of the input shaft

 Remove surplus grease.
It should be easy to move the clutch plate (1) over the hub profile of the input shaft, but on the other hand the play should not be too large.

Install

Slide the centering drift (7) into the guide bearing in the flywheel and center the clutch plate (1) over the centering drift (7) on the flywheel



Install clutch pressure plate (2).

 Tighten bolts (4) crosswise in small increments. While tightening bolts, check continuously that it is still possible to move the centering drift (7) easily. If the clutch plate (1) is jammed or installed off-center, difficulties occur when installing the transmission or when shifting.



Pull out centering drift (7) and install engine or transmission


