Removing and installing radiator

Removing, installing

 Danger!

Risk of injury to skin and eyes from scalding from hot coolant which splashes out. Risk of poisoning from swallowing coolant.

Do not open the cooling system unless the coolant temperature is below 90 °C. Open cap slowly and allow the pressure to release. Do not pour coolant into containers for drinks.

Wear protective gloves, protective clothes, and eye protection.

Drain coolant

Remove front grille

Remove front end crossmember

Remove front bumper

Detach coolant hose (4, 5 and 6) at radiator

 Collect coolant which flows out

Detach vent hose (3) at coolant expansion reservoir

Pinch off hydraulic hoses (7) and detach from steering gear oil cooler

 Collect steering gear oil which flows out



Unplug connector (8) from coolant level sensor

Remove left and right radiator trim panels (1 and 11)

 The radiator trim panels are attached at the bottom with screws and clipped in place at the top

Lift radiator unit (2) up and out of the rubber mounts (10) and take off

 If the radiator has to be replaced, take off bottom and top radiator trim panels, steering gear oil cooler and fan shroud

Install in the reverse order

Pour in steering gear oil

 To bleed, turn steering several times to full left and right lock and then inspect steering gear oil, top up if necessary
