Remove/install

 Warning

Risk of injury to skin and eyes suffering scalding from contact with hot coolantspray. Risk of poisoning from swallowing coolant.

Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90 °C. Open cap slowly and release the pressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage containers.
Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.

Risk of death caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform.

Align vehicle between vehicle lift columns and position the four support plates at the vehicle lift support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer.

Remove lower engine compartment paneling

Set heater switches to maximum heat output

 Engine must be at operating temperature for testing purposes.

Unscrew cap (1) from expansion reservoir (2)

Main cooling circuit

 When checking main cooling circuit.

Remove cap from expansion reservoir at charge air cooler

Secondary cooling circuit

Check charge air system for leaks

Check only has to be performed on one of the two expansion reservoirs.



Check cooling and heating hoses as well as their connections for condition and coolant loss, replace coolant hoses if necessary

Check hose clamps for condition and seating, replace if necessary

Install in the reverse order
