Degrease | |||
Warning | Risk of injury to skin and eyes suffering scalding from contact with hot coolantspray. Risk of poisoning from swallowing coolant. | Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90 °C. Open cap slowly and release the pressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage containers.
Warning | Risk of accident from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running. | Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.
1 | Completely drain the coolant |
| |
2 | Fill the cooling system with a cleaning solution of 5 % low alkalinity detergent and fresh water | Proportion of the mix:
Degreasing agent | |||
3 | Run the engine at medium speed and let it heat up to the coolant reaches approximately 80 °C, then let the engine running during approximately 5 minutes with the coolant in this temperature | Should it be necessary, the radiator front can be covered.
4 | Stop the engine and let the coolant cool down to approximately 50 °C
5 | Completely drain the cooling system's cleaning solution | Discard the cleaning solution in an environmentally friendly way.
6 | Flush the cooling system twice with fresh water, keeping the engine running for about 5 minutes every time you flush | Completely drain the water after each rinsing procedure and discard it in an ecologically correct way.
Descaling | |||
7 | Fill the cooling system with a cleaning solution of 10 % citric acid, tartaric or oxalic acid | Before descaling the cooling system it must be thoroughly degreased, even if there is no visible oil residue.
Chromic acid or products containing chrome are not to be utilized due to risk of residual water contamination.
Preferably citric acid should be used.
Proportion of the mix: | |||
Citric acid powder (0.5 kg)
8 | Run the engine and let it heat running in medium speed up to approximately 80 °C, then let the engine running during approximately 10 minutes with the coolant in this temperature | Should it be necessary, the radiator front can be covered.
9 | Stop the engine and let it cool down to approx. 50 °C
10 | Completely drain the cleaning solution | Discard the cleaning solution in an environmentally friendly way.
11 | Flush the drinking water cooling system at least 3 times; keep the engine running at each flush supply for approx. 5 minutes | Completely drain the water after each rinsing procedure and discard it in an ecologically correct way.
