Removing, installing

Remove air cleaner housing

Danger!

Risk of injury to skin and eyes suffering scalding from contact with hot coolant spray. Risk of poisoning from swallowing coolant.

Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90 °C. Open cap slowly and release the pressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage bottles.

Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and eye protection.

Drain coolant

Take off supporting strut (6), place to the side with plug connection

Detach crankcase ventilation line (5) at power steering pump carrier

Detach cruise control actuator (M35), place to the side with electrical connection

If Tempomat (code MD0 and MD9)

Unscrew bolt + washer (8) and push shock absorber of poly V-belt tensioning device (7) to the side (arrow)

Remove coolant hose (9)


Inspect condition of coolant hoses and hose clamps, replace if necessary

Detach coolant hose (1) at coolant pump and coolant hose (2) at crankcase


Inspect condition of coolant hoses and hose clamps, replace if necessary

Unscrew bolts (arrows) at

timing case cover


Bolts cannot be removed

Take out oil-water heat exchanger (3) to the rear

Installation: Replace seals (4)

Install in the reverse order

Inspect engine oil level, adjust to correct level if necessary
