Remove/install

Disconnect ground lead from battery

Open engine hood and raise to vertical position

Remove air filter

Push poly-V-belt tensioning device (14) into pivoting direction (arrow) with breaker bar and socket (13) and remove poly-V-belt (5) from guide pulley ()

Installation: Inspect condition of poly-V belt (5), replace if necessary.

Observe poly-V belt (5) routing diagram.

Remove air intake hose (4) from alternator (G2)

Remove air intake hose (1)

Detach alternator (G2) from bracket (3)

If necessary loosen bracket (3) on oil filter housing.

Loosen alternator (G2) on bracket (12) and swivel away from engine.

Take off cover (2) at alternator (G2)

Installation: Grommet (11) should fit precisely in cover (2)

Detach electric cable (7) at Alternator (G2)

Detach electric cable (8) at Alternator (G2)

Disconnect ground line (6) on alternator (G2)

Detach electric cable (9) at Alternator (G2)

Remove gasket (10) on alternator (G2)

Installation: Replace seal (10).

Reattach alternator (G2) on carrier (12) and remove upward.

Check fan wheel (16) and belt pulley (15) on alternator (G2) for damage and smooth operation (concentricity).

Only when reinstalling the used alternator (G2).

In case of a complaint:

Replace fan wheel (16) and belt pulley (15) on alternator (G2).
