Remove

 Danger

Risk of death when working on component parts and systems with U >= 30 V alternating voltage (AC) or U >= 60 V direct voltage (DC)

Do not touch damaged or defective live component parts and lines or non-insulated electrical connections and lines.

Remove air filter

Remove connector (arrow) of electrical connection for cylinder shutoff valve 7-9 (Y80/1)

 When removing the left ignition module.

Remove connector (arrow) of electrical connection from ECI ignition module (N92/1, N92/2)

Relieve fuel pressure through service valve

 Collect fuel.

 Tester

Completely remove fuel feed line

 Removal:
It is not permissible to bend fuel feed line out of position.
There is a risk of cracks forming on fuel distributor and fuel feed line.

 When removing the left ignition module. Collect fuel.

Disconnect connectors of oxygen sensors

Remove bolts (1, 2, 3, 4 and 6)

Loosen bolts (5)

Lower shield (7)

Evenly remove ECI ignition module (N92/1, N92/2) from spark plugs

 Puller

Install

Connect ECI ignition module (N92/1, N92/2) to spark plugs and press on evenly by hand, until dowel pins are in guides

 Installation:
In the event of blows to ignition module, there is a risk of destruction. The seals of ignition modules to spark plugs must be replaced every time parts are disassembled.
Make sure that tabs (8) of spark plug connectors do not bend inwards. These must make contact with spark plug bore (cylinder head).

Install shield (7)

 Bolt, ignition coil module bracket to cylinder head

Alternately tighten bolts (1, 2, 3, 4 and 6) slightly

Tighten bolts (5) slightly

Tights bolts (1, 2, 3, 4 and 6) alternately


Torque must always
be observed.

 Bolt, ignition coil module to cylinder head

Fully tighten screws/bolts(5)

Connect connectors to oxygen sensors

Completely install fuel feed line (17/2)

 Fuel feed line to fuel distributor

Install air filter

Read out fault memory and clear if necessary

Stored faults in the fault memories that could be caused by detached lines or a simulation during assembly or inspection work must be processed and cleared at the end of work. Refer to:
