Remove/install

Remove the charge air pipe (4)

Release the clamp (14) and disconnect the exhaust pipe (15) from the flange (12)

 Installation: Clean the sealing surfaces.

Disconnect the compressed-air line (13) from engine brake cylinder

 Only for vehicles equipped with engine brake.

Disconnect the exhaust gas turbocharger (9) hose (10)

Disconnect the oil return feed line (11) from the exhaust gas turbocharger (9)

 Collect the oil that leaks.

Disconnect the oil pressure pipe (8) from the filter

 Installation: Replace the sealing rings (7).

Remove the screws (3) from the exhaust manifold (2)

 Loosen the rear screw of the lower row and leave it supporting the manifold.

Remove the exhaust manifold (2), the exhaust gas turbocharger (9), the flange (12) and the gaskets (1)

 Installation: Remove the rear screw of the lower row.

 Installation: Replace the gaskets (1).

Measure the length (L) of the screws (3)

Remove the exhaust manifold (2), the exhaust gas turbocharger (9)

Install in reverse order

 Warning

Risk of accident from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running.

Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.

Check the oil level through the dipstick or on display

 Check the oil level and, if necessary, correct it.

Start the engine and check the lubricant oil pressure with the engine in idle speed

 Do not accelerate the engine until oil pressure is shown on the indicator. The oil pressure will have to be reestablished in approximately 10 seconds.

Stop the engine and check for eventual leaks

 Control the engine oil level , 5 minutes after engine shutdown.
