Open left rear maintenance flap

Danger!

Risk of explosion caused by escaping oxyhydrogen gas. Risk of injury caused by caustic burns to eyes, skin and mucous membranes from battery electrolyte (contains diluted sulfuric acid) or metal spatter due to short circuit. Risk of burn injuries caused by short circuit. Risk of poisoning caused by swallowing battery electrolyte (contains diluted sulfuric acid) or absorption of lead over the skin or orifices

No fire, sparks, open flames or smoking.

Wear acid-resistant gloves and clothing and safety glasses with side guards.

Do not place any conductive objects on the battery and avoid any short circuit from battery positive to ground.

Only fill liquid battery electrolyte (diluted sulfuric acid) into suitable and appropriately marked containers.

Remove battery compartment

Detach bracket (5) from charge air cooler (1)

Only on model 613.358/388 with steering 766.376

To prevent damage, cooling line for power steering system must not be bend. If required, remove cooling line for power steering system.

Remove, install cooling line for power steering system

Remove bolts (6) to charge air pipe holder (7)

Remove bracket (7) for charge air pipe

Remove charge air hose (2) together with charge air pipe (3)

Remove charge air cooler (1)

To do this, detach charge air cooler (1) at rubber mounts. To remove charge air cooler (1), tilt it a little to the front and remove it to the side. If required, remove maintenance indicator for air filter.

Checking

Check charge air cooler (1) for damage and dirt

If required, clean charge air cooler (1) or replace it.

Check rubber mount on charge air cooler (1) for wear

Install new rubber pads, if necessary.

Install in the reverse order
