Remove resonator box.

Only for engine 471.9

Clean engine in area of pressure limiting valve (11).

Counterhold rail (10) at front of flange with an open-end wrench (9) and remove pressure limiting valve (11).

 Installation: Replace sealing ring (12).

Install in the reverse order.

Connect vehicle diagnosis system, start diagnosis and perform a quick test.

Only if pressure limiting valve (11) was replaced.

Reset frequency counter "Opening of pressure limiting valve".

Only if pressure limiting valve (11) was replaced.

 The process is completely menu-assisted under:
MCM - engine management (A4)  
Adaptations 
Parameterization 
Resetting the calibration settings 
Frequency counter 'Opening of pressure limiting valve'

End diagnosis and remove vehicle diagnosis system.

Only if pressure limiting valve (11) was replaced.

Start engine and perform an engine test run.

 Allow the engine to run at a higher engine speed.

If engine fails to start or only runs for a brief period,



Fill fuel low-pressure circuit.

Turn off the engine and check area around pressure limiting valve (11) in terms of leak tightness.

 Visual inspection.
