Remove/install

Remove fuel high-pressure pump(1).

Attach suitable adapter (3.1) for drive gear (2) to locating tool (3).

Attach fuel high-pressure pump (1) to locating tool (3).

Remove driver (6).

 Installation: Replace screws/bolts (4).
Wet toothing of the driver (6) slightly with engine oil.

 Screw, driver to drive wheel for fuel high-pressure pump

Remove positioning disk (5) from drive gear (2).

 Installation: The marking (A) on the positioning disk (5) must point away from the fuel high-pressure pump (1).

Loosen nut (8).

 Nut, drive wheel to fuel high-pressure pump

Detach drive gear (2).

 Puller, two-arm

Unscrew nut (8).

Remove drive gear (2).

 Installation: The centering cone of the drive shaft and the tapered seat of the drive gear (2) must be free of grease.



Check

Check spring pin (7) for damage.

If spring pin (7) is damaged:



Replace spring pin (7).

Check drive gear (2) for damage.

If drive gear (2) is damaged:



Replace drive gear (2). The counter gear of the gearwheel drive must also be checked for damage and replaced if necessary.
