Remove/install retaining lock for crankshaft/ring gear

Remove bottom engine compartment paneling

Unscrew nuts (1) and remove bolts from transmission bell



Remove cover (2) from crankcase



Checking

Check splines of ring gear for drive plate

 Check splines for wear and damage by rotating engine at the center bolt for crankshaft in its direction of rotation. If necessary: 

Replace drive plate.

Insert retaining lock (01) into access opening

 If required, rotate engine further at center bolt for crankshaft in engine's direction of rotation until the retaining lock (01) snaps into place.


