Clean inspection glass (arrow) on receiver/drier

Disconnect connector from coolant temperature sensor (B11/4) and bridge

Danger!

Risk of accident caused by vehicle starting off by itself when engine is running. Risk of injury caused by contusions and burns during starting procedure or when working near the engine as it is running

Secure vehicle to prevent it from moving by itself.
Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes.
Do not touch hot or rotating parts.

Start engine and allow to idle

Switch on air conditioning system or automatic air conditioning and set to defrosting or air dehumidification

Remove bridge from connector for coolant temperature sensor (B11/4) while simultaneously monitoring inspection glass (arrow) on fluid reservoir

The refrigerant must rise shortly after the electromagnetic clutch is switched on, and then flow free of bubbles (refrigerant no longer visible).

Foam or a few bubbles may still be visible at ambient temperatures above 35 °C even if the correct quantity has been poured in.

If there is refrigerant loss or you suspect a leakage in the system:
