Bleeding | |||
Danger! | Risk of poisoning caused by swallowing brake fluid. Risk of injury caused by brake fluid coming into contact with skin and eyes. | Only pour brake fluid into suitable and appropriately marked containers. Wear protective clothing and eye protection when handling brake fluid.
1 | Mark fluid level of brake fluid reservoir (1, 2, 3, 4)
2 | Screw down caps (5) of brake fluid reservoirs (1, 2, 3, 4)
3 | Extract brake fluid from brake fluid reservoir (1, 2, 3, 4) | The level of the brake fluid should still extend to above that of the supply opening.
| Brake fluid notes | ||
4 | Pour in fresh brake fluid up to "MAX" mark on brake fluid reservoirs (1, 2, 3, 4) | On vehicles with code (A28) Hub reduction gear encapsulation for extremely muddy operating environments, only the brake fluid DOT 4 type 200 should be used. The brake system will overheat if a different brake fluid type is used.
| |||
5 | Connect filler/bleeder unit to brake fluid reservoir (1) and apply specified pressure to brake system | Pay attention to manufacturer's operating instructions. Bleed pressure 2.0 bar.
Vent fitting | |||
6 | Connect bleed hose of brake fluid receptacle to bleed valve (6) of left front axle | Carry out the bleeding procedure at all brake calipers at each hub drive.
7 | Open vent valve (6) by one or two turns | Leave the bleed valve (6) open until the brake fluid escapes free of bubbles and without contaminants (bright color of brake fluid).
| |||
8 | Close the bleed valve (6)
9 | Switch off and remove filler/bleeder unit | Pay attention to manufacturer's operating instructions.
Vent fitting | |||
10 | Renew brake fluid at right front axle and left and right rear axle | See operation steps 4 to 9. Perform bleeding procedures on all brake calipers at each hub reduction gear.
| |||
11 | Inspect braking system for proper operation and leaks | Fully depress brake pedal several times. If after the brake fluid change is carried out there is a suspicion of the presence of air in the brake circuit:
Bleed brake system | |||
12 | Correct brake fluid level in brake fluid reservoir (1, 2, 3, 4) | Produce the marked brake fluid level again. Risk of contaminating brake fluid; ensure scrupulous cleanliness when topping up brake fluid.
13 | Tighten caps (5) of brake fluid reservoirs (1, 2, 3, 4) |
