Notes on drive authorization system (immobilizer)

On vehicles with immobilizer the immobilizer is activated by the remote control module via the data bus to the MSA control module. When the immobilizer is activated the MSA control module interrupts operation of the injection system.
The immobilizer can be activated (vehicle cannot be started) by locking the vehicle with the key, by folding in the key on the remote control and, after deactivating, by folding out the key when none of the doors is opened within 10 minutes and the ignition is not switched on (automatic activation).
The immobilizer can only be deactivated by unlocking the vehicle with the remote control key (key folded out). Unlocking the vehicle with the vehicle key does not influence the immobilizer.

Notes on identification

Das Steuergerät MSA und das Steuergerät Funkfernbedienung sind fest durch einen Identifizierungscode miteinander verriegelt. Diese Identifizierung kann nicht gelöscht werden.
Ein probeweises Austauschen des Steuergerätes MSA oder des Steuergerätes Funkfernbedienung in ein anderes Fahrzeug oder aus einem anderen Fahrzeug ist deshalb nicht möglich.
If a new MSA control module is installed initial identification of the MSA control module with the remote control module must be initiated with the HHT following version coding. If the MSA control module remains in the vehicle the identification must be locked. Following successful initial identification with the HHT every subsequent identification procedure (engine start request) is performed automatically.
If a new MSA control module is installed for testing reasons only, do not start engine more than max. 40 times, otherwise the control modules are permanently interlocked with one another.

Note
The vehicle chassis number is stored in the MSA control module for assigning the MSA control module to a particular vehicle.
