The following operation steps are
shown on the left side of the vehicle and must be accomplished analogously on the right side in the event of damage.
1 | Expose self-piercing riveting on side reinforcement (2) (area G). |
2 | Center punch self-piercing riveting on side reinforcement (2) (area G). |
3 | Drill out self-piercing riveting on side reinforcement (2) with Ø 6 mm bit (area G). |

4 | Expose weld seams on side reinforcement (2) and cut (areas C, L and N). |
Do not damage components below. |
5 | Heat side reinforcement (2) (area G) and remove. |

6 | Grind mating surfaces down to bare metal in the cross-hatched areas. |
Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces. |
