Remove

Remove engine oil cooler

Disassemble

Remove screw/bolts (3) and oil cooler (6) from the oil cooler housing (1)

 Remove seals between oil cooler (6) and oil cooler housing (1).

Remove screw/bolts (4) and flange (5) from oil cooler housing (1)

 Remove seal between the flange (5) and the oil cooler housing (1).

Remove screw/bolts (12) and cover (11) from oil cooler housing (1)

 Remove seal (10) between the flange (11) and the oil cooler housing (1).

Remove screw/bolts (2) and additional oil cooler (9) from oil cooler housing (1)

 Remove seals (8) between additional oil cooler (9) and oil cooler housing (1).

Remove screw plug (7)

Remove screw plug (13) on bypass valve (16)

 The screw plug (13) is spring-loaded.

Remove spring (15) and bypass valve (16)



Check

Clean parts and sealing surfaces and check for wear



Information on working sealing surfaces when carrying out engine repairs

 Replace components if necessary.



Assemble

Introduce bypass valve (16) and spring (15) into bore

Install screw plug (13) with sealing ring (14)

 Use a new sealing ring (14).

 Bypass valve screw plug on oil filter head

 Torque wrench

Screw in screw plug (7)

 Replace sealing ring on screw plug (7).

 Screw plug, oil duct (additional oil cooler) to oil cooler housing

 Torque wrench

Attach additional oil cooler (9) to oil cooler housing (1) and screw in screw/bolts (2)

 Replace seals (8). The graphite-coated side of the seal (8) must point towards the oil cooler housing (1).
Tighten screw/bolts (2) evenly.

 Bolt, oil cooler to oil cooler housing

 Torque wrench

Attach cover (11) to oil cooler housing (1) and screw in screw/bolts (12)

 Install new gasket (10).
Tighten screw/bolts (12) evenly.

 Bolt, additional oil cooler cover to oil cooler housing

Attach flange (5) to oil cooler housing (1) and screw in screw/bolts (4)

 Remove seal between the flange (5) and the oil cooler housing (1).

 Bolt, flange of heater connection to oil cooler housing

Attach oil cooler (6) to oil cooler housing (1) and screw in screw/bolts (3)

 Remove seals between oil cooler (6) and oil cooler housing (1). The graphite-coated side of the seal must point towards the oil cooler housing (1).
Tighten screw/bolts (3) evenly.

 Bolt, oil cooler to oil cooler housing
