Remove/install race on crankshaft

Removing

 Danger!

Remove the front crankshaft radial sealing ring (5)

Remove housing cover (1)

 Only if a race (2) is installed.

Pull off race (2) with puller (3) at crankshaft flange

 Only if a race (2) is installed. Set both halves of the puller (3) above race (2) and tighten bolts (arrows).



Install

4

Heat new race (2) and drift (4)

 Heat drift (4) to a temperature of 60°C max. and race (2) to a temperature of 150°C max.

Use a heating plate and a temperature measuring device to do this.

The race (2) must not have any temper color; replace race (2) if required.



Insert new race (2) in drift (4)

 The chamfered side of race (2) must point to drift (4).



Install race (2) on crankshaft

 The race (2) must be flush mounted to front edge of crankshaft flange.



Install housing cover (1)

 Only if housing cover (1) has been removed.

Fit a new front crankshaft radial sealing ring (5)

 After installing a race (2) on the crankshaft, a crankshaft radial sealing ring (5) (with spring expander) with a larger inside Ø must be fitted.
