Arrow Contamination
Seat belt difficult to roll up
Due to recent events we would like to point out that increasingly seat belts with the complaint
"Seat belt difficult to roll up" are replaced.
However no fault can be found on the seat belts during the inspection.
Belts which are the subject of complaint merely have contamination (picture, arrows) on the belt guide. These dirt deposits impair the rolling-up characteristics of the belt and thus make the belt difficult to roll up.
Before replacing the seat belt it is absolutely essential to check the belt guide for contamination. Should dirt deposits have formed, these should be removed with MB-plastic cleaner.
In the event of contamination of the belt guide the respective belt strap should be subject to cleaning. Only the following cleaning agents should be used for cleaning the belt strap:
MB car shampoo as washing solution or
MB upholstery foam cleaner or
clear, lukewarm water and soap
Do not dry at temperatures above 80 °C or in direct solar radiation, do not bleach or dye a different color.
You can obtain a listing of the individual cleaning agents from the table.
