If sealant is in the refrigerant circuit of the air conditioning system, this cannot be ascertained before the refrigerant is extracted.
If the refrigerant circuit becomes leaky during the term of warranty, no sealant should be used.
This can lead to contamination of the air conditioning service unit and cause considerable consequential damage.
The damaged part must always be determined using the usual inspection procedures and replaced by a genuine Mercedes-Benz new part.
Within the warranty period, returned components which have been contaminated, damaged or even clogged by sealant will be rejected.
If sealant is used, the vehicle must be marked with an adhesive label in the engine compartment area.
Protective devices for air conditioning service units are offered by some manufacturers. They must be requested from the manufacturer of the air conditioning service unit.
