In order to minimize the complexity of the replacement parts, probably as of 06/2006 a UHI control unit with part number A 211 870 39 26 will still only be available via the replacement parts channels.
In contrast to the previous process this control unit must be adapted to the vehicle when installing with the aid of Diagnosis Assistance System.
For this the following steps are to be carried out in the DAS:
1 Call up the following menus in sequence:
- "control unit"
- "Information and communication"
- "Audio, Video, Navigation and Telematics"
- "TEL - mobile phone adapter with universal interface"
- "Initial startup"

2 In the "Initial startup" menu the item "Initial startup with automatic takeover of settings from the old control unit" should be selected and the DAS instructions should be followed.
Should the control unit installed no longer be responsive due to a defect, then the "Initial startup with manual setting of the control unit" should be selected and the DAS instructions should be followed. For this the setting of the number of microphones and the connection of the Bluetooth antenna should be carried out manually.

If the control unit is coded incorrectly, the following fault codes are stored in the fault memory of the control unit:
Bluetooth fault code:
D6A2 The component A2/91 (Bluetooth antenna) has short circuit to positive or discontinuity
Microphone fault code 164, 209, 211, 219, 230, 251 on mirror with 2 microphones and coding for 4 microphones:
D675 The microphone line 3 on the component N123/1 control unit UHI (Universal Handy Interface) has a short circuit to positive or discontinuity.
D677 The microphone line 4 on the component N123/1 control unit UHI (Universal Handy Interface) has a short circuit to positive or discontinuity.
If an Audio 20 (code 523) is installed in the vehicle, the Bluetooth coding is to be set on "deactivated", as this is not supported by the audio 20.
