As part of the warranty/damaged-part inspection for fuel delivery units, we have recently determined an increase in the frequency of problem parts with significant external soiling. This external soiling prevented any inspection from being made.
Due to recent events, please remember that when removing and installing a fuel delivery unit, care should be taken to ensure that there is no soiling in the fuel tank or in the fuel delivery unit.
If necessary, the area surrounding the fuel delivery unit opening on the fuel tank should be cleaned accordingly before the replacement.
If, during repair measures on the fuel tank or the removed fuel delivery unit, soiling is found, then the reason for this must be clarified. If any soiling is caused by the customer, the warranty claim may not be submitted. External soiling on problem parts returned through the warranty channels, may lead to rejection of the warranty and goodwill claim.
