Preventive action on retarder Voith R 115E
Only for vehicles operating in Andean countries.
We inform that the Voith R 115E retarders, in the referred models, will have to receive a preventive action for the replacement of the seal every 270,000 Km.
This action has to be carried out through the Dealers or Mercedes-Benz Authorized Workshops where the retarder will be removed from the gearbox and sent to a Voith Authorized Workshop. To do so, it is necessary to carry out a prior inspection of the assembly according to the attached form. The costs of the preventive inspection and eventual additional repairs, should they be necessary, are to be covered by the customer.
Important considerations
The removal of the retarder from the gearbox, the preventive action and its later assembly in the gearbox require specialized labor and specific equipment for the activity.
The execution of this work by non qualified personnel and/or the utilization of inadequate tools may cause serious damages to the gearbox assembly and to the retarder bringing, inclusive, safety risks during the operation.
Procedures
1 Removal of the gearbox and retarder according to document AR43.30-B-0002A.
2 Shipping of the retarder, together with the prior inspection form filled out by the Dealer, to an Authorized Voith Workshop.
3 Return of the inspected retarder to the Mercedes-Benz Dealer together with the instruction sheet containing the reference measure for installing the retarder on the gearbox.
4 Checking the assembly reference measures on the gearbox by the Mercedes-Benz Dealer.
5 Based on the assembly reference of the retarder and the gearbox, the Dealer defines the required assembly adjustment measure of the assembly (AR43.30-B-0002-02B). These values must be recorded in the assembly instructions sheet sent by the authorized Voith Workshop.
The instructions sheet must be sent to the authorized Voith Workshop for filing. One copy of this instructions sheet is to be filed by the Mercedes-Benz Dealer.
6 Fastening elements, gaskets and couplings subject to wear are to be replaced.
7 Carry out the retarder and gearbox assembly in the vehicle according to the instructions contained in the Technical Literature.
