A secondary adapter set, consisting of several parts, is now available for recording the secondary voltage with the HMS 990. On engine 270, 274, 276, and 278 this replaces the secondary voltage measurement using a measuring plate. To provide better oscilloscope pictures for evaluation, the secondary voltage is now measured through a wrapped clip on the dome of the ignition coil or the ignition cable. The secondary adapter set is assembled accordingly for this purpose. For engine 279 the secondary adapter set is used as an assembly aid for inserting a measuring plate into the - in part - difficult to access ignition coil guides.

Example: Secondary voltage curve (single-spark operating mode) engine 270. The combustion duration of approx. 2 ms can be easily measured.
