As part of ongoing technical development, from the quoted engine end numbers onwards, the guide bearing (3) is secured using a retaining ring (2) in the flywheel (1). This serves to prevent the guide bearing (3) from working its way loose.
Therefore the flywheel (1) and the outer bearing race of
the guide bearing (3) have each been fitted with a groove (4, 5) for the retaining ring (2).

Only the changed flywheel (1) with groove (4) is now available as a replacement part.

Replace modified guide bearing (3) with retaining ring (2).
The modified guide bearing (3) can be removed from the flywheel (1) in the previous manner together with the retaining ring (2).
The retaining ring (2) is destroyed during the process. It is necessary to use the new drift 900 589 00 15 00 to install the modified guide bearing (3) with retaining ring (2) .
Replace modified guide bearing (3) without retaining ring (2).
The modified guide bearing (3) can also be installed in a previous flywheel (1) without groove (4).
Since the retaining ring (2) is then not required, the guide bearing (3) must be installed without the retaining ring (2).
