With the introduction of model series 177 (A-Class), the systematic documentation of system and function descriptions was fundamentally changed. The new structure of the descriptions is used for all following new launches to simplify the legibility of the documents. The contents are arranged such that duplicated descriptions are ruled out as far as possible.
When describing technical scopes, terms are chosen so that the text flows and so that legibility is significantly improved.
The descriptions are generally subdivided into basic functions and detailed information. The basic functions describe the general vehicle technologies.
Detailed information describes special features specific to the vehicle or major assemblies in the context of a basic function.
This subdivision applies both to functions and component parts.
The search and reading direction always starts from a function and ends with each of the component parts involved. Control units have a separate significance under the component parts and can be called up directly when searching. However, there is no feedback on the function of the overall system.
