Function | The clutch consists of solenoid, belt pulley (1) for V-belt drive bearing and driven plate (2). The solenoid is bolted directly on to the refrigerant compressor. The driven plate (2) is mounted on the crankshaft of the refrigerant compressor, and the belt pulley (1) with the bearing is connected to the driven plate (2). The belt pulley (1) is permanently driven via a V-belt connected to the vehicle engine. If the solenoid is energized, then the driven plate (2) is pulled against the belt pulley (1) and the refrigerant compressor starts to run. If the solenoid is de-energized, then the driven plate (2) is released from the belt pulley (1) and the refrigerant compressor stops running. | ||
