N87/5 | Satellite digital audio radio (SDAR) control unit |
Location
The SDAR control unit is located in the trunk above the right wheel well behind the paneling.
Tasks
Receive signals
Amplifying and decoding signals
Transmitting signals
Receive signals
Signals are read in via the following connections:
Direct line
Media Oriented System Transport (MOST)
Direct lines
Circuit 30g
Circuit 31
Wake-up line
Multifunction antenna (A28/11) (except model 156) or Satellite Digital Audio Radio (SDAR) antenna (A2/82) (model 156) (for satellite signals and terrestrial signals)
Media Oriented System Transport (MOST)
Control signals from audio equipment
Amplifying and decoding signals
The SDAR control unit decodes and amplifies the satellite signals (Time Division Multiplex (TDM)) and terrestrial signals (Coded Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplex (COFDM)) into pulse code modulation (PCM) signals.
Transmitting signals
Direct line
MOST
Direct line
Multifunction antenna (except model 156) or Satellite Digital Audio Radio (SDAR) antenna (model 156) (antenna power supply)
MOST
Audio signals to the sound system amplifier control unit (N40/3) (with CODE 810 (Sound system)) or the audio equipment (except CODE 810 (Sound system))
Status of SDAR control unit, program-specific additional information (e.g. artist, track name and composer) as well as music genre (e.g. "ROCK", "NEWS") to the COMAND controller unit (A40/3) (with CODE 512 (COMAND APS with DVD changer))
Demodulated and decoded digital S-band satellite as well as S-band terrestrial signals as digital traffic and weather data signals to the navigation unit integrated in the COMAND controller unit (with CODE 512 (COMAND APS with DVD changer))
