Operation
I - Open position (brake released)
When operating the lever (handle) (1) in the brake released position, the shaft (6) is driven from the bottom up through the cam lobe (7). In this position, the shaft (6) touches the inlet valve (2) closing the discharge (exhaust) (3) and opening the passage of the compressed air connection (11) to connection (21) pressurizing the parking cylinders. Simultaneously, the compressed air contained in the connection (21) flows into chamber (b) until chamber (C), passes through the central hole of the valve (10) flowing to connection (22), consequently the connection (43) of the valve distributor (18.05) is pressurized, releasing the trailer brake.

II - Intermediate position (emergency brake - tractor vehicle and trailer.)
In this position, the pressure is controlled in the connections (21) and (22) that depends on the angle of the lever (handle) (1) actuation. When the lever (1) is actuated to an intermediate pressure, the shaft (6) falls, following the cam movement (7) and hence the pressure in the chambers (b) and (c), which are discharged. Thus, the valve (2) keeps the air vent from chamber (a) to chambers (b) and (c) closed. The manual control is now in a balanced position with a reduced pressure in connections (21) and (22).

III - Closed position (brake applied - tractor vehicle only.)
Operating the lever (handle) (1) to the brake applied position where its locking occurs, the shaft (6) is released due to the cam movement (7). With the shaft movement (6) the force of the compressed air contained in chamber (A) pushes the valve (2) down, closing the compressed air vent of chamber (b) and (c). Thus, the pressure in connection (21) is completely discharged by the discharge (exhaust) (3) actuating the brake cylinders' springs. Consequently, a cam lobe (7) actuates the piston (8) downwards closing the discharge (3) and opening the inlet valve (9).
In this condition, the compressed air that enters connection (11) and chamber (a) also pressurizes chamber (e) and, when reaching valve (9) open, flows to connection (22) pressurizing the connection (43) of the supply valve (18.05), releasing the trailer brake.
