General
Function
General
The level sensors detect the current vehicle level. This information is required, among other things, to control the automatic headlamp range adjustment (HRA).
Function
The level sensors generate voltage signals which change in proportion to the vehicle level. The signals from the level sensor are used to calculate the vehicle level and therefore also to calculate the instantaneous damper stage (vehicles with adjustable damping or with air suspension).
In vehicles with adjustable damping or air suspension, level sensors are installed on all wheel suspensions.
On vehicles with LED headlamps and without adjustable damping or air suspension, level sensors are installed at the front and rear on one side. Depending on the vehicle involved, this can be the left or the right side.
Level sensors are installed on the wheel suspensions of the rear axle in vehicles with rear axle level control system.
