1 | Electrical connector | 4 | Bolts
2 | Bolts | A9 | Refrigerant compressor
3 | Refrigerant lines | A9/7 | Refrigerant compressor with magnetic clutch |
Danger | Risk of fire due to ignition of R1234yf refrigerant on hot components. Risk of poisoning caused by inhaling overheated refrigerant vapors. Risk of injury to skin and eyes caused by contact with escaped R1234yf refrigerant and when working on pressurized parts. Risk of explosion due to formation of ignitable refrigerant/air mixtures | Never perform welding work on or near a closed air conditioning system. No smoking or open flames. Wear safety glasses and protective gloves. Work only in well ventilated rooms. Carry out repair work on the air conditioning system circuit only after the system has been evacuated.
Warning | Risk of poisoning caused by inhaling overheated refrigerant vapors from an air conditioning system containing R134a. Risk of injury to skin and eyes caused by contact with liquid R134a refrigerant and when working on pressurized parts | Never perform welding work on or near a closed air conditioning system. No smoking or open flames. Wear safety glasses and protective gloves. Work only in well ventilated rooms. Carry out repair work on the air conditioning system circuit only after the system has been evacuated.
Caution | Risk of injury caused by scraping or cutting body parts on sharp vehicle parts | Always wear protective gloves when working on or near sharp and non-deburred vehicle parts.

| Remove/install | ||
1 | Remove fan unit. | ||
Installation: Only install lower engine compartment paneling after leak test.
2 | Remove poly-V-belt. | ||
3 | Remove wiring harness from alternator and position outside working area.
4 | Release electrical connector(1) and disconnect.
5 | Remove screw/bolts (2) . | Screw/bolt, refrigerant lines to A/C compressor
6 | Remove refrigerant lines (3) from refrigerant compressor (A9) or refrigerant compressor with magnetic clutch (A9/7) and seal exposed connections with suitable stop plugs.
| Compressor oils (specification 362.1) | ||
Installation: Install new seals and wet with compressor oil.
Assembly tool | |||
Record plug | |||
7 | Unscrew screws (4) and remove refrigerant compressor (A9) or refrigerant compressor with magnetic clutch (A9/7). | Screw/bolt, A/C compressor to bracket
8 | Remove receiver drier. | If one of the following conditions is met: The vehicle is older than 5 years; the refrigerant is soiled (dark gray to black color); the refrigerant compressor (A9) or refrigerant compressor with magnetic clutch (A9/7) is blocked; or the refrigerant circuit was damaged (e.g. following an accident).
Installation: Replace drier cartridge.
9 | Install in the reverse order.
10 | Commission refrigerant compressor (A9) or refrigerant compressor with magnetic clutch (A9/7). | If refrigerant compressor (A9) or refrigerant compressor with magnetic clutch (A9/7) is replaced.
| |||
Warning | Risk of accident from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running. | Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.
11 | Carry out engine test run, checking air conditioning system for proper operation and leak tightness while doing so.
12 | Install lower engine compartment lining. |
