Danger! | Risk of explosion caused by welding or soldering work on closed air conditioning system. Risk of poisoning caused by inhaling overheated refrigerant vapors. Risk of injury to skin and eyes caused by contact with liquid refrigerant. | Never perform welding work on or near a closed air conditioning system. No smoking or open flames. Wear safety glasses and protective gloves. Work only in well ventilated areas. Carry out repair work on the air conditioning system circuit only after the system has been drained. | |
1 | Drain air conditioning system | Installation: Evacuate, refill and check air conditioner for leaks and proper operation. When filling the air conditioning system, add the amount of compressor oil that was extracted back to the refrigerant circuit. Use new compressor oil. | |
2 | Move driver seat to its rearmost position | ||
3 | Remove cover (1) at expansion valve (2) | ||
4 | Remove nut (3) from bracket for refrigerant lines (4) at expansion valve (2) | | |
5 | Pull refrigerant lines out of expansion valve (2). | ||
6 | Remove screws (5) from expansion valve (2) | Use care when removing screws (5) so that the line of the temperature switch is not kinked or otherwise damaged. | |
Installation: Install new seals at expansion valve (2). | |||

7 | Remove expansion valve (2) | Installation: Replace O-rings and coat with refrigeration oil. Replace self-adhesive insulating mat at expansion valve (2). | |
8 | Replace fluid reservoir | ||
9 | Install in the reverse order | ||
10 | Turn on air conditioning and idle engine for about 4 minutes | For this, set the temperature switch and blower switch to maximum heat output. | |
11 | Check air conditioning for proper operation | The air outlet temperature at the center air outlet should not undershoot | |
12 | Inspect the air conditioning circuit for leaks | Air conditioning system leak detector |
