Risk of fire/risk of explosion due to short circuit and escaping oxyhydrogen gas. Risk of (burn) injury caused by caustic burns to eyes, skin and mucous membranes from battery electrolyte/mist, short circuit and arcing. Risk of poisoning caused by swallowing battery electrolyte or absorption of lead through the skin or body orifices. Risk of death due to voltage U >= 30 V AC and U >= 60 V DC.

No fires, sparks, open flames, or smoking. Wear acid-resistant gloves, clothing, and glasses. Pour battery acid only into suitable and appropriately marked containers.

Remove/install

Switch off ignition and remove transmitter key

Unscrew nuts (1)

Undo Velcro fastener (arrow) and remove cover panel (2)


When removing the cover panel (2), make sure that the cover panel (2) does not come into contact with the busbar (3).
Otherwise a short circuit will occur which can damage the electrical system.

Disconnect ground line (4) from backup battery (G1/12)

 Bolt, ground line to backup battery negative terminal

Remove screw/bolt (5) from positive terminal of backup battery (G1/12) and take off together with electrical line (10)

 Bolt, busbar to backup battery positive terminal

Unscrew nut (6) and remove busbar (3)

 Nut, busbar to relay for backup battery

Unscrew nut (7) and remove cover panel (8)

Push backup battery (G1/12) toward center of vehicle and remove from battery carrier (9)

Install in the reverse order
